In 1936 the Thomaidis family acquired its first vineyards. The first variety that the family cultivates is called “AMASSI”. This raw variety was named after a small town called Amassia, an area where the family’s ancestors grew up. Since then, the family has been selling grapes for many years. In 1999 it owns its own distillery and produces tsipouro. In 2015, the winery 3 GENIES releases its own wine labels.
In 1936 the Thomaidis family acquired their first vineyards in the Pozar area. The first variety it cultivates is a wild variety found on trees. It is named ``Amassi`` from the homonymous city of Amassia in the Pontus region, where the ancestors of the family come from.
Some years later, other international varieties such as Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc and the Greek Xinomavro are planted and cultivated.
In 1999, the traditional distillery opens, that produces quality spirits respecting tradition.
In 2014, the 3GENIES Winery enters the wine map with its enjoyable wine, as a result of the oenologist Savvas Thomaidis’ oenological knowledge and the modern winery he has organised.
The whole production comes from 100% privately owned vineyards. The 3GENIES wines express the love for nature and the respect for the family’s history and roots, which are reflected on them.
Nowadays, 3GENIES wines have won the love of wine lovers. The winery is one of the pioneers in the Greek varieties revival by vinifying and promoting the Amassi variety.
Family tradition that was born and developed in the area of Aridea N. Pellas, in the community of Piperia, on the road to the thermal springs of Pozar. The love for nature, the respect for history and the roots have connected the family with the vineyard since 1936, when Sotiris Thomaidis (first generation) started selling the grapes of his vineyard. In 2005, Anastasios Thomaidis (second generation) founded the traditional distillery of the family in which he started gradually making good use of a part of the privately owned production, by producing tsipouro under the occasional distillers procedure. In 2016, Savvas Thomaidis, completing his studies in the viticulture, winemaking and distilling sector and with the help of his brother, pharmacist Sotiris Thomaidis, created the winery (third generation). The family’s philosophy focuses on the production of quality wine and spirits that bear the stamp of the microclimate of the Piperia area and highlight its uniqueness.
